From March 2015, Cividale del Friuli, placed in the North-Eas of Italy, a few steps from Slovenian and Austrian borders, will host the exhibit “Preziosi Ritorni” in the halls of Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle.
An exhibit in the Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle for telling a great history
The Monastery, together with the Longobard Temple and other precious treasures related to Longobard age recently added in the “UNESCO World Heritage List”, as part of the serial site “The Longobards in Italy. The places of power (568-774 A.C.)”, is the perfect setting for this exhibit full of charm and beauty.
The exhibit “Preziosi ritorni”, that shows some of the most meaningful finding recently “given back” from museums, is composed of important artworks and archaeological finds that tell the story of one of the main Longobard places in Cividale and is held in the Eucharist’s Chapel of the nuns.
Thanks to this exhibit, the millennial history of the Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle and Longobard Gastaldaga, can be told to the visitor, thanks to great artistic quality and archaeological finds artefacts. A path that expose in an innovative way, through the centuries, a monumental complex still of great relevance, in the urban context.
In this context, a new follow up system available on web with multimedia contents, will accompany the visit to the exhibition and to the Longobard Temple. In fact the show, as well as allowing the view of particular artistic or historical value objects, presenting them for the first time or making them accessible in a new perspective, will have an educational and informative feature. The exhibit will be open to the public in order to increase the cultural tourism linked to the visit to the Monastery and the Temple.
The exhibit “Preziosi ritorni” can be visited upon purchase of the Monastery entrance ticket.
